Does everything come with a belt nowadays?

Over the past few days I've been treating myself to a few well deserved clothes and expanding my wardrobe in the process. Of the various tops, shirts, dresses and jackets I have bought/ looked at, one common theme springs up EVERYWHERE (and no I am not referring to mad shiny sequins!)- Belts! Everything I consider buying or have bought came with its own belt - some added to the piece and others are just pointless!

I know what you are all thinking, just take the offending piece of leather/ string/ material off and stop your complaining - and yes I can, but then I am left with those 2 annoying little loops either side of me, that scream 'look at me, look at me' whenever you move your arms... and yea sure I could wear a cardi or shawl or only move my arms from the elbow down but really have todays designers got no imagination that every single item produced needs to be accessorised with a belt that rides up under your cleavage (unless you are an A cup) and emphasizes your stomach making you look 6 months pregnant (unless you are a size zero)?

Maybe I should stop my ranting and become a fashion designer?

The best type of price tag...

... the kind that is marked wrong - in your favor!

I rarely check out sales rails, mostly because they are filled with clothes that my dog wouldn't even consider sleeping on but occasionally I will brave them and cast my eye on their contents in the hopes of bargain. Today I got lucky, twice! Not only did I manage to find some really nice shirts and belts I also managed to find some really cute shoes too!! What made the whole shopping trip even sweeter was the fact that when it came to paying it all came to much less then the enticing red sales tags led me to believe!

.... who can resist cute pink shoes with bows at less then a third of their RRP!! Now I only have to hid them from James... have only just managed to get all the shoes in I bought at last weeks shoe party!!

The first day of the rest of my life...

On Saturday I completed my final Wedding as a Wedding Planner under my company Distinctive Weddings, because of the economic climate I was forced to make the difficult decision in September to pull the plug on my dream and close the company.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life and I haven't a notion what I am going to do! In June 2010 I will be out of school 10 years, in that time I lived and worked aboard, traveled the world and had many different jobs and careers. I never thought myself the type of person who would settle and prosper in a 'permanent pensionable job' but now I find myself staring into the future for the first time a little uncertain as to what or which direction to head in now.

Something I always wanted to do was write a book, and while I achieved that goal 2 years ago in writing and having published a book on wedding planning - Distinctive Weddings, Tying the know without the Rope Burns http://www.veritas.ie/?page=search&key=distinctive%20weddings&type=Title it wasn't the type of book I had always dreamed of writing. My dream was to write a novel, something of the chick lit variety. Shortly after making the decision to close Distinctive Weddings I set about starting this project. I am now trying to edit down my book, with the working title "Purple Tulips" and prepare it to send out to agents.

I have already sent it to 2 agents. One in Ireland and One in the UK. I received a rejection from the agent in the UK about 2 weeks ago, ironically not for the chapters I sent them but for my already published book! - Clearly they didn't read my submission - so perhaps that was a lucky escape. I still haven't heard from the agent in Ireland.

I don't know whether or not I have what it takes to make it as an author. I would like to think I have, but there are, I am sure, many out there with the same belief. Time will tell. It writing doesn't work out, I'm going to have to look at other ways to make a living...

what will I do next?
