How important is it to you to say thanks?
Today my mum and I received lovely gifts, in thanks, for taking a blind friend to and from our craft group. The gifts were simple, but hugely thoughtful. My mum got annoyed at the gift because the lovely woman in question doesn't have much and my mother's opinion is that she shouldn't be 'spending' her money on us.
I see her point, but its my experience, that the giving of thanks is far more rewarding and beneficial than the 'keeping of the cost of the gift'.
